A kapala (Sanskrit for skull) or skullcup is used as
a ritual implement in both Hindu and Buddhist tantra.
In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the kapala is generally filled
with wine (or other liquid substances) and placed on one's shrine as an offering
to the deities.
