“Of all the methods for accumulating merit through generosity, offering butterlamps is second only to the practice of tsok.” Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche
As the light of the butterlamp symbolizes the wisdom of the awakenened mind, butterlamps are traditionally offered daily on one's shrine or household altar. They are filled with butter or other oils, such as coconut or canola, after first securing the wick. Alternatively, a tealight candle
may be placed securely inside the lamp.
We offer butterlamps every day at Rigdzin Ling, and many additional lamps are sponsored on behalf of family, friends, oneself, or pets who are facing
difficulties or have died, dedicating the merit for them. If you would like to sponsor such an offering ($2.00 per lamp), please call Rigdzin Ling at (530) 623-2714 or email sangha@chagdudgonpa.org
