Pocket malas are very similar to practice malas except with 27 beads instead of 108 or 111. All have guru beads and are secured with an adjustable tension knot ~ some of the styles incorporate spacers as well. Pocket malas are a convenient and discreet way to practice in public. Their sizes will vary thus they are not guaranteed to fit on one's wrist.
Prostration malas, also consisting of 27 beads, are strung on elastic and can easily be held in one's hand during practice and mantra recitation.
