These silk lanterns bridge the delicate balance between fashion and functionality. Handmade by artisans, each silk lantern has the unique character one would expect from a fairly-traded, non-factory made product.
The blooming lotus is said to represent the individual progress towards enlightenment. The artisans have taken this ancient symbol of harmony and turned it into a stunning silk table lamp. Made with a durable steel frame, high-quality silk and perched on an ebony wood base, this is the perfect complement to any room in the house or as a gift for the spiritual and creative individual.
The lamp is made in a village near Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) under the guidance of Mr. Hiue Chau and his family. The Chau family business supports many talented craftsmen and artisans in the village and surrounding area. A portion of the proceeds for each sale is donated to fund health care services and educational opportunities for the artisans and their families that are employed in the making of this lamp.
Sponsored by the Om Gallery Education Fund. A portion of the proceeds from every lamp purchase helps fund education opportunities for our artisans, workers and their children. In addition, a portion of the proceeds funds education opportunities locally and throughout the U.S.
