The paper used to make these attractive greeting or note cards comes from the bark of a sustainably harvested Himalayan shrub called lokta which grows wild in the remote highlands of Nepal. This card features a stylized filigree bodhi leaf.
Bodhi is a Sanskrit word that literally means awakened ~ the bodhi tree was so named because the Buddha attained the awakened state or enlightenment under its spreading canopy. Since then the meaning of this fabled leaf has symbolized the perfection of wisdom in its most ultimate state.
These beautiful cards are produced by a fair trade artisan group in Nepal itself ~ available in red only. Each blank card and self-adhesive envelope is protectively packaged in its own sleeve.
